What is North Street Acres?
How will North Street Acres Affect Me?
Aren’t they giving the town park free land?
What can We do?
- North Street Acres is a proposed 170-unit development
- It will increase the population of North Street by over 600%
- No outlet other than North Street and Hudson Avenue
- 3-Story 26-Unit buildings, 200+ cars, and 369 parking spots
How will North Street Acres Affect Me?
- Dangerous Traffic Crossings and Major Delays
- 6x increase of traffic on North Street, and cutting across the rail trail
- 2x increase of traffic at busy intersections
of Adams & Kenwood and Hudson & Delaware
- Changing the character of the neighborhood
- Widening of North Street onto grassy lawns and cutting down trees
- Changing North Street and Hudson Avenue into busy thoroughfares
- Clearing forest & wetlands
- Destroying wetlands and decimating healthy habitat for wildlife
- Increase of deer and ticks in residential areas due to displacement
Aren’t they giving the town park free land?
- Developer’s offer of donating unbuildable land to Bethlehem’s parks is disingenuous:
- Developer purchased the property on June 27, 2019 for $350,000
- The Town tried to buy the 133.3 acre property for public open space
- Developer proposed a sale price of $2.89 million
- The Town was not able to negotiate a purchase price
- The land that may be donated cannot be developed due to geography and
is useless to any developer except as a bargaining chip for goodwill
What can We do?
- OPPOSE! Show up to Town & Planning board meetings!
- Send letters and emails! Tell your friends and neighbors!
